783-J. Japanese "Meatball" Silk Flag with Inscription Dated April 15, 1946. Outstanding white silk flag with no mothing or tears, just light water staining. Inscribed in ink on the flag's corner is the inscription "For my mother Tokyo April 15, 1946 Richard". This flag measures about 26" x 36" and makes a nice display item...$65.

793-J. Original Imperial Japanese Saki Cup. Outstanding larger original Imperial Japanese saki cup with index card describing the cup inscription. This cup was distributed by a soldier named "Tanaki" to commemorate a battle in Russia. The cup is white porcelain with gold designs and lettering. It measures about 3 3/4" in diameter and has a few edge chips on top and bottom rims and a hairline crack. I obtained this saki cup a number of years ago from a retired Army Master Sergeant and WWII veteran. While stationed in Japan in 1945-46, the veteran assembled an outstanding collection of original pre-September 2, 1945 Japanese saki cups. The ORIGINAL saki cups in the collection we purchased from him date from 1904 to 1944. This saki cup comes with the Sergeant's old typed index card which describes in English the Japanese inscriptions appearing on the cup...$30.

671-J. Original Imperial Japanese "China Conflict" Commemorative Saki Cup. Outstanding colorful original Imperial Japanese saki cup with index card translating the cup inscription. This cup was distributed by a soldier named Terada to commemorate his service during the China Conflict. It includes a poem that roughly translates "Once I devoted my life to the Emperor but, fortunately, I survived and will see my home again." Small chip on cup's blued edge. I obtained this saki cup a number of years ago from a retired Army Master Sergeant and WWII veteran. While stationed in Japan in 1945-46, the veteran assembled an outstanding collection of original pre-September 2, 1945 Japanese saki cups...$35.
